2020… What a year

It’s currently 11:14pm on New Years Eve (31/12/2020). This year is a tricky one to recap. It started with bushfires and ended in fear of a third wave of Covid here in Melbourne.

This year broke many, it definitely broke me somewhat. I am a different woman at the end of 2020 compared to the start. But I’m kind of grateful for that.

This year gave our little family the gift of time together, to do nothing but enjoy each other’s company and appreciate all that we have.

Yes it was also shit for a number of other reasons – lockdown/isolation etc but I don’t want that to be the reason I remember 2020.

I hope my kids remember it as when mum baked lots of delicious treats, we had pj days with arts and crafts and celebrating family dinners when we were allowed.

I will cherish those quiet birthdays without all of the fuss. Just us, a few cupcakes, pizza in the loungeroom and a movie that the kids chose.

2020 for me is the year I realised how wonderful my circle of friends are. And how important it is to keep in touch, we are all busy…. a phone call can go a long way. This year I have cried more times than I care to count, I’ve yelled, screamed, cursed. But I’ve also laughed, loved and appreciated more this year too.

I don’t have a plan or a resolution for 2021, I don’t want one. I don’t think anyone needs one. Just surviving 2020 is a blessing. It’s been a hell of a ride.

I’ll write a separate post on a few things I’ve been experienced this year but for now I’m reflecting on all the beautiful memories we created in 2020 despite the Pandemic.

I hope 2021 brings everyone peace, joy and appreciation for all that they have.
